Internships

Are looking to get hands-on experience in social entrepreneurship, nonprofit management , and community development? We offer flexible internships that can be a stepping-stone to your next move!

Most of the work can be done remotely and work hours are flexible but must be able to attend bi-weekly meetings (2 hours in length) on Tuesdays at 9:00 am at Southdale Library in Edina. If this meeting time is absolutely impossible for you, please indicate in your cover letter your expected availability for bi-weekly meetings on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays between 9 am and 5 pm.

Length of service is a minimum of 4 months based on mutual fit and desire to stay on. Must be able to devote at a minimum of 5 hours per week.

Communications & Storytelling

Position: Communications & Storytelling Intern
Job Type: Unpaid Internship                                     
Hours: 5 hours per week or more, flexible work times
Length of Service: 3 months or more
Start Date: Summer 2019

We seek an intern who will play an active role in the communications for Cultivate. This internship will focus on developing and implementing strategies to maintain and build strong networks with Cultivate donors, followers, and others connected to us. The intern will also be responsible for prepping newsletters, social media posts, blogs, and other forms of communication.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with founder on communications strategy, content, and timeline.
  • Executive strategy.

Qualifications:

  • Currently has or is pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Communications, Marketing, or related field.
  • Strong verbal and written skills.
  • Have knowledge and understanding of communications or have a vested interest in growing in this field.

Programs Recruiter

Position: Program Recruiting Intern

We seek an intern who will play an active role in the recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing support of local and global leaders to participate in our programs.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with founder on recruitment strategy, content, and timeline.
  • Execute strategy with the support of the Executive Director.

 

Qualifications:

  • Currently has or is pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Community Development, Leadership, Nonprofit Management, Communications, Entrepreneurship, or related field.
  • Strong verbal and written skills, as well as experience conducting research.
  • Has knowledge and understanding of community development, leadership, and social entrepreneurship, or has a vested interest in growing in these fields.

Fundraising Events Planner

Position: Fundraising Events Planner

We seek an intern who will play an active role in the development of events for Cultivate’s funding base. This internship will focus on planning and executing local events, networking in relevant circles, and other tasks as related.

  • Work collaboratively to plan and execute small and large fundraising events, and donor appreciation events.

 

Qualifications:

Marketing & Promotions

Position: Marketing & Promotions Intern
Job Type: Unpaid Internship                                     
Hours: 5 hours per week or more, flexible work times

We seek an intern who will play an active role in the marketing and promotions development for Cultivate. This internship will focus on developing and implementing strategies to market Cultivate to relevant audiences, including building relationships with local rotary clubs, schools, community organizations, and faith communities. The intern will also be responsible for developing marketing materials, developing and following through a marketing strategy, planning and securing speaking engagements for the Executive Director, and pursuing other avenues to raise awareness across the Twin Cities for Cultivate.

Grant Writer

Position: Fundraising & Grant Writing Internship
Job Type: Unpaid Internship

We seek an intern who will play an active role in the development of grant strategies, drafting grant applications, and developing relationships with local foundations. Intern will be responsible for researching and writing grants, and assisting the Executive Director to connect to local foundations.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with founder on grants strategy, content, and timeline.
  • Work collaboratively to identify existing resources and funding avenues.
  • Based on strategy; assist Executive Director with grants research, drafting, and submission.

Qualifications:

  • Currently has or is pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Communications, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, or related field.
  • Strong verbal and written skills.
  • Have knowledge and understanding of nonprofit grant writing, or have a vested interest in growing in this field.

Training Programs

Position: Training Programs Intern
Job Type: Unpaid Internship                                     
Hours: 5 hours per week or more, flexible work times
Length of Service: 3 months or more
Start Date: Fall 2019

We seek an intern who will play an active role in all aspects of our program:

  • The development of our program resources and curriculum, used for our mentoring and equipping of program partners. These resources and curriculum address: leadership development, cross-cultural partnerships, communications, fundraising, project management, technology, and community development strategies and theory.
  • Recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing support to our program partners.
  • Recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing support to our volunteer coaches and mentors for partners.
  • Assistance with the financial reporting & management of funds raised by our partners for their projects.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with founder on program strategy, content, and timeline.
  • Work collaboratively to identify existing resources and content.
  • Conduct research in above-listed program focus areas and draft curriculum lessons.
  • Leverage networks to strengthen relationships with existing partnerships and develop new partnerships.

  • Currently has or is pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Community Development, Leadership, Nonprofit Management, Communications, Entrepreneurship, or related field.
  • Strong verbal and written skills, as well as experience conducting research.
  • Has knowledge and understanding of community development, leadership, and social entrepreneurship, or has a vested interest in growing in these fields.
