Communications & Storytelling

Position: Communications & Storytelling Intern
Job Type: Unpaid Internship

Cultivate International is a startup nonprofit that empowers immigrant, minority, and indigenous leaders to fight poverty and injustices through grassroots, small-scale community efforts. Our vision is to support community leaders in the Twin Cities and across the globe to develop sustainable projects that address poverty and the marginalization of their community. We partner with leaders and social innovators who have a dream for their community but lack the knowledge, resources, and networks to make their dream a reality. Cultivate was founded in early 2016 and is currently working with partners who represent projects in the Twin Cities and across the globe.

 

We seek an intern who will play an active role in the communications for Cultivate. This internship will focus on developing and implementing strategies to maintain and build strong networks with Cultivate donors, followers, and others connected to us. The intern will also be responsible for prepping newsletters, social media posts, blogs, and other forms of communication.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with founder on communications strategy, content, and timeline.
  • Executive strategy.

 

Qualifications:

  • Currently has or is pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Communications, Marketing, or related field.
  • Strong verbal and written skills.
  • Have knowledge and understanding of communications or have a vested interest in growing in this field.

Training Developer/Writer

Position: Training Developer Intern

We seek an intern who will play an active role in the research and drafting of content that will be used in our training curriculum for our program participants and volunteers. Topic areas include leadership development, community development, cultural adaptivity, project management, fundraising, financial management, communications, and technology. Intern will research topics assigned by Executive Director and draft content. Research includes reading books on the topic, listening to podcasts, and evaluation existing resources. All content will be written as introductory lessons on the topics, intended for readers who have little-to-no knowledge of the topic, therefore the intern is not expected to be well-versed on all the topics he/she will be writing on.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Executive Director on content and timeline.
  • Execute research and writing with the support of the Executive Director.

 

Qualifications:

  • Currently has or is pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Community Development, Leadership, Nonprofit Management, Communications, Entrepreneurship, or related field.
  • Strong verbal and written skills, as well as experience conducting research.
  • Has knowledge and understanding of community development, leadership, and social entrepreneurship, or has a vested interest in growing in these fields.

We seek an intern who will play an active role in recruiting interns and volunteers for our programs, and manage their projects and work. This internship will focus on developing and implementing strategies to source interns and volunteers, including posting jobs, conducting initial interviews, onboarding, overseeing that all documents and necessary steps are taken, and then acting as a project manager to assist other interns and volunteers in accomplishing their assigned tasks, and acting as a liaison to the Executive Director.  The intern will also assist in other tasks and duties for the organization as time permits, and based on their skillset and interests.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with founder on recruitment and management strategy, content, and timeline.
  • Work collaboratively to identify new interns and volunteers.
  • Based on strategy; execute plans.
  • Actively communicate and work with others to help them stay on top of their projects, identify barriers to their success, work closely with Executive Director to ensure that all interns and volunteers are successful in their jobs.

 

Qualifications:

  • Currently has or is pursuing a graduate degree in Nonprofit Management, Human Resources, Project Management, Business or related field.
  • Strong verbal and written skills.
  • Have knowledge and understanding of nonprofit management, HR, project management, volunteer management or have a vested interest in growing in these fields.

The intern will also be responsible for developing marketing materials, developing and following through a marketing strategy, planning and securing speaking engagements for the Executive Director, and pursuing other avenues to raise awareness across the Twin Cities for Cultivate.
